Birthday Post

Another year is dawning, Dear Master, let it be,
In working or in waiting, Another year for Thee.
Another year of progress, Another year of praise,
Another year of proving, Thy presence all the days.

– Frances Ridley Havergal

For my birthday today, God gave me chapter 43 from the book of Isaiah. And what a great comfort it was! I prayed to God first and then asked Him a lot of questions. As per usual, He answered them right away through the said chapter.

I love beginnings! Is there anybody reading this who doesn’t? I find comfort in the fact that the Bible started with the words, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) It shows you just how powerful He really is. That whatever you had to go through in the past or the day before, you can smile and not worry.

The God you believe and serve created the heavens and the earth from the very beginning. Is there anything hard for Him to do now?

And it’s a proof that when God allows you to begin or when He begins something, you know it is going to be beyond beautiful. For that, I am grateful.

My colleagues started the conversation about cinemas. They were talking about descriptions of the first movie houses they’d been to. And then, they also talked about the first movie they saw.

When it was my turn to share my experience, I told them that the first “movie house” I went to was in Masbate. I was five or maybe six years old. The movie house was owned by Tata Anding. It was a nipa hut with a small television and the movie was about a giant frog terrorizing a small village. Or at least, that’s what I remember.

They all laughed at me telling me jokes about my age. I laughed out loud with them just because I wanted to. Writing about this bit made me laugh some more.

I am thankful that God is so gracious to allow us to begin every single day. I am thankful for the moments that allow us to begin to understand things.

The moon orbits the earth. The earth rotates in its own axis. And so the result is for “every 60 seconds we have a new minute. Every new minute, we have a new hour. Every 24 hours, we have a new day.” With every conversation, we discover something new about others. With every experience shared, we make new friends. And with every birthday, we have a new age to either dread or show off to others. Hahaha!

We all have moments that make us decide to just ‘lose it all.’ I had one. Sometimes they are not the healthiest of moments, sometimes they are. If only for us to find a moment to get a grip and begin to see things the way we’ve never seen them before.

Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you…

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! …

Important Reminder

As hard as it can be, and the whole world has proven it, we musn’t be addicted to one another. Let’s force ourselves to be addicted to Jesus alone. Let’s enjoy His presence apart so we will experience the wonderful gift of His presence together. Let’s make that our goal. Let us strive to be good, honest, careful, unworthy servant of Him who loves us both more than anyone else. Game? ^_^
