The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

The Man

His face was ordinary for the people in those parts of the country.  His stature, well, he was not the tallest man. His built was that of a man who labored day and night. His skin color was that of a man whom the sun fell in love with and takes pride of it.  He lived a quiet, i life.  His mother was an excellent homemaker and his father was a skilled craftsman.

As a kid, he loved spending time at church.  He listened intently to the teachings,  preachings at church. As a young man,  he greatly enjoyed making things and shaping them out of nothing into something beautiful and useful.

All his life, he knew he was preparing for that one special moment but he waited for the perfect time. He’s been thinking about her long before she even had a clue. He was thinking about her way before she even knew someone like him existed.

The Lady

She heard about his love for but her young mind couldn’t comprehend it. So he decided he was going to wait for her, patiently.

She has always been the beauty.  Even at a young age,  she’s always been regarded as one with “the face of an angel.” She was considered a ray of sunshine anywhere she goes. But she was trained to be a well-behaved lady. Although, she’s always loved the thrills and considered danger as an excitement. She was commanded to follow strict rules but she always enjoyed breaking them.

The Meeting

He became a highly intelligent man. People were amazed by his wisdom. Everyone regarded him as a man who came from heaven. People were drawn to him from everywhere. In time, he became a threat to everyone even to the authorities. His words of wisdom were too much for them to handle.

People started accusing him, condemning him. And then he knew the moment he has been preparing all his life has finally arrived. Without proper trial and driven by madness, as they were meant to be, the authorities sentenced him to death.

Despite all the humiliation, flogging, whips, pain and hurt, he always had her in his mind. He knew he was doing this for her. So that one day, that day set by the heavens above, they could be together for all eternity. He was thinking about her all those times of suffering.

Many, many years later, she finally came. She grew up to be the girl he wanted her to be. And then one sunny day,  they meet. She hadn’t a clue what to say to him but she’s been hearing about him for the longest time. She was asked if she would allow him to stay in her heart – that’s how gracious he’s always been – and so she accepted him.

Her life was never the same since that day. She fell in love with Him. And He loved her dearly. He made sure she knew He loved her so much every minute of everyday. And they fell so deeply in love with each other.

It’s a love story that never ends. For her, it was the greatest love story ever told.

After praying and reading my Bible today,  I thought of writing something.  And then it hit me. What exactly am I suppose to write about? That strong feeling to write but you haven’t a clue what to write about is just weird and totally normal at the same time, so here I am writing these things. I believe it’ll come to me as I start.

And then I greeted my lifelong friend and teacher on Viber as we always check on each other there. I told them that sometimes people think they can just get away with all the wrong things they did. And then my teacher responded by saying, “We will all face the consequences of our actions but we will be under God’s grace.”

Sometimes all these thoughts come to you. You think of all the wrong things people did to you all because they weren’t thinking straight, they didn’t have the guts to face their fears so, they create all these stupid scenarios and drag you in it, and so you wish that the earth would just swallow them up alive. I was like James and John in Luke 9:54:

When James and John saw this,  they said to Jesus,  “Lord,  should we call down fire from heaven to burn them up?”

Re-reading those words,  I thought they were funny. It was nice to see that it wasn’t just me who felt the way I did. The next verse gave Jesus’ response. He rebuked them. And that’s the thing about Him, He is all about redemption. His love, corrections are always redemptive. Of course, when we think about all the things He went through, it makes you feel real small. Suddenly,  all these wrong things don’t come close.  But of course, the consequences would still need to be faced.

And then it dawned on me, these people who did us wrong,  they know they’ve done us wrong. But sometimes they would choose to believe – because of their selfishness, their hearts aren’t right with the Lord yet – that what they did was right in their own eyes. But God would know better on how to deal with them. These things we go through is not about them. It’s about you and God. It’s about me and God. How do you respond to God’s corrections? How do you respond to all these injustices? How do you respond to all these wrong things people do to you? In the end, it’s just really about me and my Father. How I respond does not speak of all these horrible, horrible people that I come across with. These experiences will speak of me and my relationship with my Father.

So I choose to let go and let God do what He needed to do.

It is my prayer, if you’ve been done wrong, horrible things too, that you choose to respond in a way that’s glorifying the Father. He knows better how to deal, take care of these horrible, horrible people. I mean, enemies. I mean, selfish people. I mean, people He also created to bring closer to Him. Hehe..
